All coming out of the woodwork - just starting a new build myself after several years!!

I wasn't quite as successful with the username/password though, it took me 3 attempts.  :-s

Good to see the emoticons are still the same as well Rob. [-Y  [-(

#186989 Household LED / SMD Bulbs

Posted by Marcus on 13 January 2014 - 07:19 PM

Okay one of these landed today - 3w 58 SMD GU10 bulb

It has replaced a Philips halogen 35w bulb and the SMD is definately brighter - perhaps a little too much although it doesn't help that the light points straight at your face as you walk into the kitchen.

I'll buy and try a 2w SMD bulb next before splashing out to replace all 8.

I'll also try grab a picture comparison later but it's difficult on the phone camera with the stupid auto-sensor.

Only problem with Illustrator is that it exports all curves as splines which means you've still got to do quite a bit of editing to it once you've got it imported into a proper CAD package.

I use Rhino now, fairly simple to pick up the 2D stuff on it. :)

#143919 Replacement TJ07 Switch/Led

Posted by Marcus on 03 December 2009 - 01:43 AM

IIRC the TJ07 switch is slightly smaller than the typical Bulgin / Vandal switch type as they're normally 19mm mounting holes / 22mm OD.
Check the hole widith with a ruler to confirm.

If you can find a 19mm drill bit, you can enlarge it to fit them.

As for LED's, they're easy enough to change, I did it on the Overclocked Orange build.
Remove the little switch / LED PCB from the front and you'll just see 2x LEDs soldered onto it.

Remove those, solder in 2x new red LEDs and job's a goodun'.
Off the top of my head I think they're 3v LEDs, loads to choose on eBay or Maplin etc :)

May not be safe for all of you @ work so I won't use IMG tags.

It's not my fault if you open it and get shouted at by the boss/wife/partner

V2000 for Dual Loops or the TJ07 for single loop! :P

PS: Don't forget that the V2000 is dis-continued so you'll struggle to find one now :(
