Avira is better than AVG. By a long shot. http://www.free-av.de/
Malwarebytes AntiMalware is fantastic and free. http://www.download....4-10804572.html
SuperAntiSpyware is also fantastic and free. http://www.superanti...ANTISPYWAREFREE

Malwarebytes and Superantispyware are unbelievably good programs for removing ALL malware and spyware. Forget Adaware, Spybot Search and Destroy. They're pwned.

Your sys must be slow like a turtle with all that crap installed, why would you need 5 internet browsers? lol

You don't need to install IE unless you want IE7 because its already part of OS.

If you install Microsoft Office why need to Open Office?

Once CD/DVD burning software is more that enough

Klite codec pack contains all codec listened below apart from Flash Player and Java

Virtual Drives - Daemon Tools will sort it out.

Media players hmmm you need WMP11, iTunes [contains Quicktime] + VLC no need for more.

Marcus: Na obviously I didn't :P But I have got a point there, usually one or two from each category is being use, rest is just useless :) Like Office, how many people would install Open Office over Microsoft on Windows? None

Yeh the idea is that the list is things you might want to install, we're not suggesting you install them all because that would be pointless and run slow as hell

Spybot S&D!!!

Foxit Reader over adobe any day - so much faster!

Easy Cleaner if you're on XP ( I find it more effective and manageable over CC)

Forget muiltiple players - download k-lite full codec pack minus the player and you're sorted for everything

Paint.NET ftw! :D

Notepad++ and VirtualBox FTW!

Notepadd++ is an awesome little open source text editor, complete with line numbers, syntax highlighting for various languages and a load of other features.

VirtualBox is a free virtualisation app (same kind of thing as VMware Fusion, Workstation, ESX etc). I've been playing around with it for a few days now and it's absolutely awesome. If you've ever tried installing VMware tools on a Linux guest you'll know it's an absolute pain - VirtualBox's Guest Additions are stupidly simple to install in comparison. The whole app is polished and works extremely well, enough for me to do a bit of graphics work in Fireworks on a Windows XP VM with 384MB RAM and 64MB of VRAM. :D

Just something I've learned some time ago...

After your next clean OS install, before installing anything... download a small app called "Installrite"

Run it and let it create a snapshot of your drive. Once that's finished, install away, anything and everything you need. Drivers, apps, tweaks, registry hacks etc....

Then let it create another snapshot, after its finished with the second one, it'll create a single executable file with all the installed apps and drivers including all the changed or added registy entries.

Realy made my life much easier ;)
