You can now fold on Nvidia 8 series GPUs.

You will need the latest Beta CUDA driver and the new F@H GPU2 client.

See here for details.

I really want to do this but the driver doesnt appear to be compatible with x86 OS's plus you seem to have to use a modded *.inf file to get the new 177.35 drivers to work with anything but the new nVidia GPU's i.e. the 280. Are you running it Ian?

I'm running it on Vista 32 with no problems.

I am using the Beta Cuda driver 174.55.

The PPD on my 8800GTS 640 (oc'd to 650/1600/950) is 2565, which is more than I've been getting on the SMP client with WU 2665. I am also running 2 console clients and getting about 260ppd for each. So I'm now getting approx 3080ppd instead of 2100ppd :)

Up & running :)

How are you getting a ppd from it Ian? also ive noticed if you right click the icon and select Display you get the nice viewer but you can do this several times, is it running multiple units do you think? its also a shame you cant see anysort of progress without having to have the Graphical interface open as far as I can see.

I am using FAHmon for the ppd.

To set up the client in FAHmon the location is;

C:\Users\>your-user-name<\AppData\Roaming\Folding@home-gpu\

:)

When i tried the visual thingy it crashed the graphics driver. Not tried it since :?

spoon Ive read a few posts suggesting that SLI support isn't working currently.... I don't have SLI so cant confirm or deny, just thought Id let you know. The viewer is fine for me no crashes, lock-ups or BSODS. I didnt use the CUDA drivers tho. I used the 280 drivers as they include CUDA support along with a modded inf file so they would work with my 9800GTX, maybe a solution to viewer issues....?

Read my above post. Mine seems ok, it looks smart to. Maybe im just luck though (would make a nice change) :)

My GPU core temp is well up though, currently at 38 according to Everest, normally 30, nothing to worry about tho.

I am using FAHmon for the ppd.

To set up the client in FAHmon the location is;

C:\Users\>your-user-name<\AppData\Roaming\Folding@home-gpu\

Legend as usual Ian :)

Just loaded up another ordinary console client and it's boosted the ppd by another 390!!

The Q6600 is now at 100% (oc'd to 3.2GHz) and the temp is 44° and the GPU temp is 45°, so I'm pretty damned happy to say the least.

The GPU2 client is taking 57mins per WU which ain't bad for an 18 month old graphics card.

From what I've read, GPU2 will not run on multiple GPUs at present.

Just installed the official 177.35 driver and it has had a monster effect. PPD on the GPU has gone up from 2500 to 4800 :shock: on the same WU (it was 20% through when I updated). :D

It has also cut the client's CPU usage from 25% to 4%. Just waiting to see if this has a positiv effect on the SMPP client as weell, cos that had nearly stopped when runniong the GPU client.

Been on the 177.35 since I started the other day.

Can confirm very little cpu usage and Über ppd. :D

8600GT should still do something, it is 8 series so the nvidia client should work.

That's not bad.

My 8800GTS 640 with a good oc is hitting around 2,600.

Best way to asses the performance is to use a utility called FAHmon. This calculates the points per day that your GPU client is producing.

EDIT
try to avoid using the GPU Viewer as it's very buggy and has quite a negative impact on the folding client.
