So its finally done. I don't think it'll ever be finished because I keep thinking of bits Ive missed to add to it but for now its done.

See my article on painting here

Please ask permission if you want to host it somewhere else or copy any of it.

Hope it helps:)

Great guide Dave,I was wondering,is it necessary to use clear coat when using 2 pak and if so does the clear coat need to be 2 pak also?

It depends on the paint system, some 2K paints are self skinning others need a clear coat. Most Polyurethane 2K systems need clear. Check with your supplier. You always get a much shinier finish with clear too.

Always use the clear from the same paint system otherwise you might have compatibility issues eg: I tend to use the DuPont Chroma paint system so I wouldn't paint something in Chroma Base then cover it with a PPG clear.

If unsure always check the instructions and MSDS.

HTH :)

It is indeed a nice guide.

I cant help feeling that when i get my cases sprayed, they dont go into all the proccesses like bigdavegrrr talks about.

Well i can ask them now if they do all the following in this guide.

thanks.

Hmm i should of read this more clearly.

Had a go at all this stuff for the first time and finished this week.

Went through 3 terrible paint jobs and after I had removed the last and sanded down I ran out of spray, now I have horrible dark, light stripes and dots all over it. Not gonna waste no more time on that one though.

Time for my next spray attempt.

Argh, I was hoping it was a new thread, so I could be the first comment and say.... With a brush...LOL.

Checked the article though mate, quite handy and certainly worthy of the Sticky!

Cheers.

its really alot easier than it sounds. Its also very rewarding!

You dont have to paint the whole case, just think how good a small touch up or accent would look.

Im primarily spraying mine because I scratched it all up doing some DIY on it xD
