Odd HDD behavior

oh so as you've likely seen the topic about the psu power inquire.

now the reason ive asked about this is because of the odd antics of the HDD's.

every time they have a few minutes of ideal it sounds like the engine of a plane powers down, and when i go to do something the system "freezes" (system doesn't freeze because the mouse still moves) but the video players and everything else stops being active until the hdd finishes the low to high pitchiness and then finishes, then the task in hand continues or starts.

happens to i think all the HDD's, mostly the master and another one.

so what on earth is causing this since the psu is being said to be fine.

Have you checked the Windows power plan (Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Power Options) because it sounds like Windows is powering the HDDs down?
