<bigparty><bigparty>finaly after two evening's i've managed to hit the 5ghz mile stone :D.

yesterday i had to call it a night @ 4.9, it just did'nt want to play ball. but tonight i was'nt going to be beaten so i chucked some more v's @ it and turned of vdroop, the next goal is 5.2 but i think it deserves a well earned couple of day's rest.

can't remember the name of it, it's some big orange asus thing that i've had for about five years, the 670's are 32nm so they run pretty cool.

Poor little chip. :'(

Nice speed though :thumb:

cheers jacka, it loves it really, it's my board that's squeeling like a pig, (dam so could digital circuitry that's meant to stop squeeling).

Mighty impressive overclock but I presume you are not going to keep it like that long term? 1.5 V is a 0.05 V over the recommended maximum and a full 0.15V over Intel's stated recommended maximum. You are well into the suicide benchmark zone there.

Better not mention my days of 1.8V suicide runs on water with 939. :o

thanks digitaldunc,

i only ran superpi 1m, so the highest it went was 49c but it was'nt @ 100% on both cores @ the same time, and it was only for 8.6sec's
tbh it would be suicide to try and run prime or lynx on air @ those setting's,
it was stable enough to have a few run's of superpi and potter around for 15mins without bs'in but i would'nt put a wager on it not bs'in or locking up.

cheers guys,

those setting's are purely for benchmarking,
if it's still alive next week then are try and get it 100% stable @ 4.8 as it only needs 1.35 on the vcore to hit that frequency but i've only run superpi @ those setting's but if i can get it prime and lynx stable below 1.4v then are be happy.

With watercooling mine did wP1024 @ 4.65 ishhhh at 1.45v ishhhh IIRC

If your chip does 4.8GHz at 1.4v, I suspect you have something a bit special there :)

Have SPi'd over 5GHz on water... by accident :S

it depends if you class an es as special :D.
it is special in a way as it won't post if volts are set to stock/auto on any other board apart from my evga, and even then it will only get into the bios on the evga, then i have to set vcore to 1.35v in order to get into windows,
but once set to 1.35v it will go all the way to 4.85 before it needs a bump in vcore, this is with vdroop on so it may even do a little better volt wise with vdroop off,

i'd like to try it out in my ud6 as it's a much more solider board compared to the evga but it won't post in it:(.

4850MHz at 1.35 but only 5020 at 1.5v?

i had a little play and the best vcore i could manage @4.8 was 1.388v (1.375v set in bios) with vtt @ 1.2v.

i did a quick test with linx but temps where very close to the limit so stopped it after 5 passes so i would'nt class it as stable but it's not bad considering it's on air.

@ jacka, the large bump in voltage is due to it being on the brink of the bclk limit, i could probably drop a core which would give me another multi or two and then i could lower the bclk + v's.

@ wgizmo, here's a piccy of the cooler (she's a beast ).

Thats pretty sweet :)

You cant be on a BCLK limit at a lowly 192!

Try increasing vPCH to 1.20-1.25v and vTT to 1.25-1.30v :)
