Numbers of people folding has been dwindling, and since IanF has had to quit folding for marital reasons (ie, avoiding divorce over mahoosive leccy bill) our PPD has really declined.

Anybody who used to fold, why not start again.

People who have never folded and think "wtf is folding?"

Come here and find answers and have a go.

Don't necessarily need hardcore 24/7 folders, though it would be nice, just run folding clients while your on your pc and doing non intensive stuff like word processing or browsing.

If you can manage a few hours a day it all adds up.

Ciao you later,

One-Eye/Andy

1 SMP client per 2 cores.

You'll get about twice as many PPD from your graphics card than your CPU too Aaron
I like sausages, biscuits and beer, but not at the same time, that would be weird

Started up again but on a very small scale.

I'm running a GPU client on my main rig while browsing etc. Fortunately the GTX260 can bang the work units out pretty quickly.

Nice one, but be aware that this eats electricity at a frightening rate, it was costing me close to £100 a month to Fold 24/7 with an 8800GT, 8800GTS and E5200 cpu all of which where highly overclocked :(

I think its dumb luck, Nvidia are better for folding than ATI.

I have found an extreem way to sort out the elec bill: I stay in a hotel Mon to Fri for work.

Well I'm now back in the game, after my university fixed their proxy settings - their Squid version wasn't communicating with Stanford properly :(

Now folding for WCUK:
Galileo - Q6600 @ 3.6GHz + 4870 @ stock
Atlantis - Q9550 @ stock

Will be going as 24/7 as I can, depends if I can sleep with the noise of the rigs

Edit - live stats are here: http://users.aber.ac.uk/cpw6/folding/
Poseidon | i7 2600K @ 4.5GHz w/ Be Quiet! Dark Rock Advanced | 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz | ASUS P8P67-Pro | HIS 6970 2GB IceQ Turbo | 120GB Vertex 3 | 2 x 1TB Samsung F3 (RAID0) | ASUS Xonar Essence STX | 3 x Samsung 245B 24"

I've started but it looks as if the team is fairly quiet... we're losing positions.

I have a few questions as I'm new to this, if any veterans are willing to help me out.
